Ski Resorts in Colorado
Aspen opened for skiing in 1937 with a lift which would be considered ancient by today’s standards. By the 1960’s skiing was a popular activity and Aspen was the favored destination. Also in the 1960’s, other old mining towns such as Telluride, Crested Butte, Keystone, and Breckenridge developed their own ski hills. Vail was founded as a Winter Sports destination and is the largest and most popular ski destination in North America. Most ski resorts in Colorado are open from November to April each year.
